Residence permit

Within 8 days of arrival, students have to declare their presence to the Questura. To obtain the residence permit for study purposes, the student must bring to the following address:

Questura - Ufficio Stranieri Via S. Gallo, 83 Open: Monday through Friday, 8:30 - 11:45 a.m

the following documents:

• Mod. 209;
• 3 passport photographs;
• a photocopy of his/her passport (including visas where required). Students from EFTA countries and from Eastern European countries must have a visa for study purposes. (For information refer to the Italian diplomatic or consular authorities);
• the E 111 form, for health insurance in Italy, or a copy of a health insurance policy valid abroad. In Italy the cost of the insurance policy is about Euro 38,73 for six months;
• an official document showing that the student has been assigned an EU grant in the framework of the Socrates-Erasmus programme or, if not available, a document showing that the student can rely on sufficient financial means to cover expenses in Italy;
• a copy of the student mobility proposal signed for acceptance both by the Socrates coordinator and by the Socrates office of the University of Florence.
