Presented to Qualcomm, Inc., La Jolla - San Diego (CA) on 15 June 2009, the wireless positioning system based on a new concept of platonic smart antenna.

Dr Gianni Giorgetti and Dr Alessandro Cidronali, presented in a joint conference the operation principle and the performance of a smart antenna based on a tri-dimensional switched beam antenna. The antenna, which was developed in collaboration with Dr Stefano Maddio, consits of 6 antenna elements arranged in a dodecahedron shape and permits to locate a target transcevier by only Received Signal Strenght Indictor (RSSI) values. The Qualcomm staff in La Jolla is developing a systems for indoor position of people and resources and shall consider the proposed technicque as a suitable technolgy.
