INTRODUCTION
e-Learning
provides universities both an opportunity and a challenge that entails
important implications from the methodological and technological
point of view, and has significant consequences from the economic
and social point of view.
The
University of Florence, reflecting the key role of e-Learning in
its development policy, will host an international seminar on the
topic, bringing together experts and representatives of organizations
actively working
in the sector.
The
Seminar's purpose is to define possible development patterns, to
identify the role of universities in synergy with other actors and
therefore to contribute to specify the next evolution phases.
Besides
bringing together some of the leading international actors in the
field, the event offers interested organizations the chance to evaluate
and enhance strategies, in the context of lifelong learning.
This
Seminar forms part of the development policy of the distance learning
project at the University of Florence which receives the financial
support of the Italian Government, and whose objective is the creation
of a polycentric
university.
