The “Marco Polo” project is an agreement between the Italian and Chinese governments to facilitate the reception of Chinese students at Italian universities.

It is reserved for those who wish to attend an Italian language course of at least 10 months in Italy before actually enrolling on a course of study.

At the end of the Italian language course, students must pass an examination and achieve level B1 of the Council of Europe's Common European Framework of Reference for Languages - self-assessment form (pdf).

Further information can be found on the website of the Ministry of Universities and Research (MUR).

Subsequently, the students of the “Marco Polo” project enrol on the First Cycle Degrees and Single Cycle Degrees Second Cycle Degrees or on degree courses according to the regulations for non-EU students resident abroad and within the percentage limits set annually by the universities.
