Hello, and welcome here. This is my "official" web page, where I placed notes about my scientific activity. From here, you can go to some less official pages of mine, for instance a page with my Curriculum vitae and personal notes  and to some pages even less official than that one. The picture you see of me here was taken at the 'Turbine Forum' in Nice in March 2002.

The activity in my lab at the Department of Chemistry of the University of Firenze is mainly about coatings and surface engineering. More specifically, we work in:

• Electrodeposition from ionic liquids, with a special view on aluminium coatings

• Thermal barriers manufacturing, testing, and characterization for the aerospace and energy production industry

In our lab we have some facilities for surface characterization, that is:

• Advanced Microscopy: scanning probe microscopy (SPM), electron microscopy (SEM, TEM) and more

• Surface Composition Measurements (Photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), scanning Auger Microscopy (SAM), low energy ion scattering (LEIS) and more

And, of course, we do use other methods which we can access by means of cooperations.
