Best to avoid the most crowded paths, even online

Study by the Department of Physics and Astronomy in Physical Review Letters

Whether we talk about the spread of an infection or information, describing the movement of elements through real and virtual networks is very complex, due to the very high number of available routes and the interactions that can be created along them.

The group of researchers that includes the team of the Department of Physics and Astronomy coordinated by Duccio Fanelli has developed an algorithm that describes the process of diffusion on the network, isolating for the first time the effect generated by the interference that is created in conditions of great crowding or high density. The research was published in Physical Review Letters.
