UniFi fourth among Italian universities in the THE University Impact Ranking

Dedicated to the sustainable development objectives defined by the UN.

Excellent placement for the University of Florence in the University Impact Ranking 2019, a new ranking drawn up by the international weekly magazine Times Higher Education which aims to evaluate the policies of universities in relation to the sustainable development objectives established in Agenda 2030 by the General Assembly of United Nations (UN). The University of Florence stands in the 101-2004 range, the fourth among the Italian universities present in the rankings, together with the University of Parma. There are 462 universities examined by the Times Higher Education across 76 different countries.

An indispensable prerequisite for participation in the ranking is the result obtained with reference to the seventeenth and final objective of Agenda 2030 ("implementation methods and partnerships for the pursuit of sustainable development objectives").

The international ranking was then elaborated on the basis of three performances among ten sustainability objectives. Florence was evaluated with reference to "Climate Actions" (objective 13) where it ranks 25th overall and first among Italian universities. Our University is also ranked 53rd in the overall ranking and third among Italian universities on "Industry, innovation and infrastructure" (objective 9). It then occupies a position in the 101-200 range for "Responsible consumption and production" (objective 12) where it has obtained a third place in the national ranking.
