The University's research makes new ground in international rankings. Unifi occupies 216th place out of 835 universities examined by the NTU Ranking in 2019, the ranking compiled by National Taiwan University on the basis of scientific production, with particular regard to the quality of research. Compared to the 2018 survey, the University of Florence earns nine positions. On the Italian scene, Unifi ranks eighth among Italian universities, confirming the placement of a year ago.
Among the indicators, the University of Florence excels for articles published in the last 11 years (indicator 58.6) and for the h-index, ie the number of publications and citations obtained by our university researchers (indicator 58.1).
Considering the individual subjects, Unifi is in the top 100 places in the world rankings for "Pharmacology and Toxicology" (80) and in the first 200 places for "Agricultural sciences" (112), "Chemistry" (178), "Clinical Medicine" (178) , "Geosciences" (149), "Mathematics" (146), "Neuroscience and Behavior" (164) and "Plant and Animal Science" (192).
If we look at the macro disciplinary areas, Florence is among the first 200 places for "Life sciences" (194) and "Medicine" (187).
