University corridors for refugees

Call for applications open to students from Ethiopia. New deadline 1 April.

A regular and secure path to study in Italy is offered to students with refugee status from Ethiopia as part of the UNICORE (University corridors for Refugees) project, an initiative of the United Nations High Commission for Refugees (UNHCR).

The University of Florence joined the project, for the second year running, together with other Italian universities and is offering two scholarships to support the study path of two students who will enroll in any of the University’s degree programs taught in English.

The Unifi initiative takes place in partnership with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation as well as various national and local institutions.

Thanks to last year's call, two students have joined the University of Florence. Hermon, a 26-year-old woman - the only female among the youth who arrived in Italy, who enrolled in the master's degree in Advanced Molecular Sciences of the School of Mathematical, Physical and Natural Sciences, and Jules, 25, who chose to attend the master's program in Natural Resources Management at the School of Agriculture.

The deadline for participating in the call is postoned to Thursday, 1 April 2021. All information inlcuding the details of the courses, the benefits granted and the admission criteria is available online.
