UniFi partner of the New European Bauhaus

The initiative of the European Commission for a sustainable economy  

UniFi is the second Italian university to be part of the New European Bauhaus, (NEB) the initiative of the European Commission inspired by the Bauhaus school of experimental art founded in Germany between the two wars and led by the architect, designer, and urban planner Walter Gropius. The project aims to make the European economy sustainable, aiming for zero climate impact by 2050.

To achieve this goal, according to the NEB principles reflected in the so-called European Green deal, the first step is to bring together creatives, citizens, experts and scientists  in a single meeting space to devise innovative, inclusive, digital, and sustainable future living spaces.

In this context, the role of partners such as the University of Florence, which is responsible for promoting opportunities for debate and interdisciplinary dialog in order to rethink vital spaces by encouraging research and experimentation in the territorial, social and cultural context; to identify the needs and expectations of the population involved, through co-design and participation initiatives; to identify innovative solutions to complex social problems; to develop and share good practices, ideas, and visions inspired by a more environmentally friendly model of society.
