Ukraine, the actions of the University towards hospitality and support

Scholarships, visiting professor contracts, places in university residences, Italian language courses, and fee payment extension

Concrete actions of support for Ukrainian university students were decided by the Board of Directors of the University in today's meeting.

The University of Florence accepts the invitation of Maria Cristina Messa, Minister of University and Research, to promote actions of hospitality and solidarity to meet the needs of students and researchers involved in the dramatic circumstances of the ongoing conflict.

19 scholarships have been set up for those enrolled or intending to enroll in a degree or doctorate program at the University and 12 Visiting Professor/Invited Lecturer contracts for teachers, researchers with a total commitment of over 330 thousand euros.

The measures decided upon will be implemented according to criteria set forth in special calls for proposals.

Unifi, moreover, provides 15 beds in the university residences "Via Romana" and "Mario Luzi", for Ukrainian students, researchers and professors; other beds will be added by institutions and associations of the territory that have already declared their availability.

Italian language courses will be offered by the Centro Linguistico di Ateneo and the Centro di Servizi Culturali per stranieri.

In view of the conflict and the economic crisis involving the countries in the area, it was also decided to extend the deadline for payment of the second installment of university fees to July 31, 2022, for students enrolled at the University coming from Ukraine, Russia, Moldova, and Belarus.
