Sustainable development, the University of Florence fourth in Italy and among the top 200 in the world

According to the Times Higher Education international rankings

TheUniversity of Florence ranks among the top 200 universities in the world and fourth in Italy for its commitment to sustainable development. This is according to the survey for 2022 by the international scientific journal Times Higher Education(THE), which examined the ability of universities to pursue the  Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) set out in the United Nations 2030 Agenda through research and higher education.

Compared to 2021, the University improves its overall ranking (it was among the top 300 in the rankings) and an overall score of 83.9 (last year's score was in the 71-77.4 range). This result is even more telling when one considers that THE's ranking, in its fourth edition, surveyed 1,406 universities, 25% more than the previous year (when there were 1,117).

In the rankings for individual goals, the University gains positions relative to seven goals and on three others it enters the rankings for the first time.

Globally, Unifi's performance stands out for the goals "Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure," where Florence climbs from 63rd to 34th position, and on "Responsible Consumption and Production," where it gets an 84th place (previously in the 101-200 range).

Florence also ranks among the top 100 universities on the goals of "Good Health and Well-Being," "Climate Action," and “No Poverty." It also figures among the top 200 universities on “Decent Work and Economic Growth," “Reduced Inequalities," and “Partnerships for the Goals."

Our University achieves the best ranking in Italy with regard to the goal “No Poverty" and ranks second for "Responsible Consumption and Production" and "Climate Action."
