Unifi rises in the THE World University Rankings 2027

The University of Florence enters the top 16% globally and climbs in the national ranking

The University of Florence consolidates its position among leading higher education institutions in the Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings 2027.

By improving its overall score, Unifi ranks among the top 16.3% of higher education institutions worldwide out of 2,297 ranked across 118 countries—a clear advancement on the previous edition, when it was placed in the top 18.3% out of 2,191 universities.

Unifi is now placed in the 351–375 bracket, moving into the upper section of the 351–400 band where it ranked last year, confirming a stable performance despite the addition of 106 institutions to the ranking.

In the national standings, Unifi rose from 13th to 11th place (tied with the University of Milano Statale and the University of Trento) out of 58 Italian universities included in the ranking, up from 54 last year.

Particularly notable is the increase in the Research Environment indicator, which measures researcher productivity, research funding, and academic reputation: Unifi improved its score by over three points, rising from 37.9 to 41.1. The University also achieved strong results in Teaching and International indicators.

The University of Florence,” commented Rector Alessandra Petrucci, “continues to strengthen its position in this international ranking, driven in particular by its scientific output and its capacity to attract research funding. However, it is Unifi as a whole that receives a recognition of excellence, placing it among the top Italian universities.
