M. Bindi ha conseguito il dottorato di ricerca nel 1993 e dal 2002 è Professione Ordinario presso l’Università degli studi di Firenze. Ha svolto attività di ricerca, sin dalla fine degli anni 80, sullo studio dell’impatto dei cambiamenti climatici sugli ecosistemi terrestri e sulle strategie di adattamento e mitigazione ai CC. È stato responsabile e coordinatore di progetti finanziati dalla Commissione Europea a partire dal II Framework Program fino a Horizon 2020. È stato Lead Author del 4 e 5 AR e dello SR 1.5 Warming dell’IPCC dell’IPCC — Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change. Per questo contributo alle attività dell’IPCC che hanno portato al the Nobel Peace Prize IPCC-2007 ha ricevuto riconoscimenti ufficiali dal IPCC e dal Governo Italiano. A livello accademico ha svolte numerose attività organizzative (direttore di dipartimento, vicepreside di facoltà, presidente di corsi di laurea e master) e di responsabilità politica (Pro-Rettore alla Ricerca). Ha avuto ruoli di responsabilità in società scientifiche nazionale e internazionali (chairman della Div. 2 dell’European Society of Agronomy, membro del direttivo della Società Italiana di Agronomia) e dal 2009 è membro dell’Accademia dei Georgofili. È autore di oltre 160 articoli su riviste internazionali (Scopus H-index = 47, WOS H-index = 45, Google Scholar H = 62). È nella lista dei 100 Top Italian Scientist (Natural & Environmental Sciences category) e nel ranking Global Highly Cited Researchers 2020 Clavirate. Dal 2021 è socio ordinario del Gruppo 2003.

M. Bindi got his PhD in 1993 and since 2002 he is Full Professor at the University of Florence. He has carried out research activities, since the late 1980s, on the study of the impact of climate change on terrestrial ecosystems and on CC adaptation and mitigation strategies. He has been responsible and coordinator of projects funded by the European Commission from the II Framework Program to Horizon 2020. He has been Lead Author of the 4 and 5 AR and SR 1.5 Warming of the IPCC - Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change. For this contribution to the IPCC activities that led to the Nobel Peace Prize IPCC-2007 he received official recognition from the IPCC and the Italian Government. At the academic level he has carried out numerous organisational activities (director of departments, vice-president of faculties, president of bachelor and master courses) and political responsibilities (Pro-Rector for Research). He has held positions of responsibility in national and international scientific societies (chairman of Div. 2 of the European Society of Agronomy, member of the board of the Italian Society of Agronomy) and since 2009 he has been a member of the Accademia dei Georgofili.
