Legenda
I was born in Pistoia (Tuscany, Italy) on December 29, 1968. I graduated cum laude in 1994 (M.Sc. in Electronic Engineering) and I achieved a Ph.D. (in Telematics in 2001). In 2001 I joined the Department of Informaton Engineering (formerly Department of Electronics and Telecommunications) as Assistant Professor of Electrical Measurements, Electronic Measurements and Electromagnetic Compatibility Measurements. Since 2020 I am Associate Professor of Electronic Measurements (Master Degree in Electronics Engineering) and Electrical Measurements (Bachelor Degree in Electronics and Telecommunications Engineering).
I married in 2004 and I have two sons, Alberto and Emilio.
Carlo F. M. Carobbi was born in Pistoia, Italy, in 1968. He received the M.Sc. (cum laude) degree in Electronic Engineering and the Ph.D. degree in Telematics and Information Society from the University of Florence, Florence, Italy, in 1994 and 2000, respectively. Since 2001, he has been an Assistant Professor in the Department of Electronics and Telecommunications, University of Florence, where he currently teaches the course in electronic measurements. His current research interests include electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) and radiofrequency (RF) measurements and EMC.
From 2011 to 2019 he has been chairman of the sub-committee 77B (Electromagnetic Compatibility, High-frequency phenomena) of the Italian Electrotechnical Committee (CEI). He is also member of the sub-committee 210 A (Radio disturbance - Measurement techniques and limits).
He was appointed as the Italian representative in the international joint task force JTF IEC TC 77 – CISPR, the group responsible for the writing of the technical report IEC/TR 61000-1-6 (Electromagnetic Compatibility – Guide to the assessment of measurement uncertainty). He is now member of the international Maintenance Team 12 (MT12) of the IEC TC 77/SC 77B, the group responsible for the maintenance of the basic EMC standards on immunity to impulses, such as IEC 61000-4-2 (Electrostatic Discharge), IEC 61000-4-4 (Electrical Fast Transient Burst) and IEC 61000-4-5 (Surge). Since 2021, he is convenor of the Joint Maintenance Team between IEC TC 77 and CISPR/A on Measurement Uncertainty, the group responsible for the maintenance of IEC TR 61000-1-6.
He is technical assessor of the Italian national accreditation body (ACCREDIA) for both the testing and calibration departments.
He is associate editor of the IEEE Transactions on Electromagnetic Compatibility journal and among the 2017 Distinguished Reviewers of the same journal.
He is recipient of the:
- 1906 award from the IEC for his contribution to the development of EMC standards;
- Best EMC Paper Award of the 2017 IEEE International Symposium on Electromagnetic Compatibility (Washington, DC).
He is senior member of the IEEE Electromagnetic Compatibility Society and senior member of URSI
He is officer of Commission E and President of the Italian URSI Committee.
Quantification of uncertainty and evaluation of reproducibility of radiofrequency and electromagnetic compatibility measurements. Interlaboratory comparisons and proficiency tests (design, managemet and conduct) of electromagnetic field and conducted disturbance measurements. Improvement of electromagnetic compatibility basic standards on test and calibration methods (emission, immunity, continuous wave, impulse). Accreditation of electromagnetic compatibility and radio parameters testing laboratories to ISO/IEC 17025.
Sports (running, swimming, skiing), classical music (I was an organ player), reading. I like long walks in the mountains.
