The course is focused on urban metabolism, on production, collection and management of waste and wastewater in urban areas, on the impact of diffuse and point source emissions on ecosystems and on natural water treatment systems.

Type of Assessment
The final exam will consist in an oral discussion aimed at evaluating the knowledge and capabilities learned and in the presentation of a report on water and waste management in a selected urban areas; the final score will depend on the quality of both the report and the oral exam.
It is always necessary to be registered for the exam of "Sustainable management of water and waste in urban areas" in the online system to enable the electronic registration of the score.
The exam is aimed at verifying, through the discussion on the report and the oral test:
the knowledge acquired on production, management and mass balance of solid waste and water within urban metabolism;
the knowledge and understanding of the state-of-the-art of natural water treatment systems;
the ability of applying acquired knowledge on natural water systems design;
the learning and communication skills on water and waste management models with reference to a selected case study.
