The Foundation for Research and Innovation of the University of Florence acts mainly within the Metropolitan Area of Florence by activating, catalyzing and supporting innovation understood as a set of technological, cultural, social and economic development processes aimed at improving the life of a community.

Established in 2007 to promote Knowledge Transfer and Higher Education, the Foundation still maintains the objective of developing and strengthening synergies between and among universities, enterprises, institutions and civil society through the development of projects and the organization of events, thus offering opportunities for exchange.

It is participated by the University of Florence, the Metropolitan City of Florence, the CR Florence Foundation (a non-profit entity with banking origins) and the Florence Chamber of Commerce.

The Foundation employs specialized staff with multidisciplinary skills in the field of innovation, expert in the creation of networks and in the development of interconnections between business and research, and open to exploring new topics of relevance for the development of the territory and society.
