BREAKDOWN OF TRAINING ACTIVITIES AND POSSIBLE CURRICULA The course of study is organized into three curricula. The first called "Smart Industry" is based entirely on courses provided at the University of Florence. The second and the third one called "International HSLU Lucern" and “International Tecnico Lisboa” respectively are based on structured international mobility agreements signed with HSLU Lucerne and Instituto Superior Tecnico Lisboa, and include at least a semester of study abroad (the first semester of the second year) and the award of a double engineering master’s degree, the Italian and the Swiss or Portuguese one. Access to the international curriculum requires participation in a special call for applications. The three curricula overlap the first year. For all the curricula, the mandatory courses are mostly in the areas of operations management, industrial plant engineering, design and management of production processes and production systems, automation, as well as business economics and organization, innovation, and project management. In the first year, basic knowledge is also enhanced by delving into operations research and statistics for experiments and forecasting. The second year differentiates the three curricula. In the Smart Industry curriculum, this includes, in addition to some courses in the above-mentioned areas, a stage/traineeship activity, and the writing of a thesis. The thesis should be based on an industrial project and/or research activity and have characteristics of originality. In the International curricula, on the other hand, the second year features courses to be selected from the foreign partner universities offerings and a co-tutored thesis activity supervised by two faculty members from each of the two universities. Teaching activities are planned in a blended mode up to a maximum of 1/3 of the ECTS and may involve innovative teaching methods such as the “flipped classroom”. The "Honours Program in Operations and Supply Chain Management" pathway is planned based on agreements stipulated with leading companies. Particularly deserving students will be admitted to this pathway, selected through competitive calls (“bandi”) issued based on the stipulated agreements and publicized on the website of the CdS. Upon successful participation in these educational activities, the student will be awarded a formative activity of the area F [Additional educational activities (art. 10, paragraph 5, letter d) - Other knowledge useful for the insertion in the world of work] with the CFUs provided for in the call (“bando”) from a minimum of 2 to a maximum of 9. Upon resolution of the CU, a bonus of up to a maximum of 1 point will be awarded to be applied to the final test.
REQUIREMENTS FOR ENROLLING IN THE COURSE OF STUDY CURRICULAR REQUIREMENTS Curricular requirements for admission to the course consist of possession of a bachelor's degree in class L8 or L9 (or other degree acquired abroad and recognized as eligible) and the presence in the career of at least 155 ECTSs with a grade. The minimum number of ECTSs earned in the learning areas most specific to the training of the management engineer is listed below. a) Mathematics for management engineering (STAT-01/A (ex SECS-S/01), STAT-02/A (ex SECS-S/03), MATH-03/B (ex MAT/06), MATH-06/A (ex MAT/09), IINF-04/A (ex ING-INF/04): minimum 15 ECTSs b) Economics and business management (IEGE-01/A (ex ING-IND/35), ECON-07/A (ex SECS-P/08), ECON-09/A (ex SECS-P/09)): minimum 6 ECTS c) Industrial plant management and production technologies (IIND-04/A (ex ING-IND/16), IIND-05/A (ex ING-IND/17)): minimum 6 ECTS (b) + (c): minimum 18 ECTSs d) Energy engineering and energy management (IIND-07/A (ex( ING-IND/10), IIND-07/B (ex ING-IND/11), IIND-06/B (ex ING-IND/09), IIND-06/A (ex ING-IND/08), IIND-08/A (ex ING-IND/32), IIET-01/A (ex ING-IND/31)): minimum 6 ECTS. Graduates who do not meet the above requirements for a difference of less than 30 CFUs, or who have done internship and apprenticeship activities that do not allow meeting the limit related to 155 ECTS with graduation grade, will be evaluated by a special committee that will identify compensatory examinations useful to make up for the existing deficiencies that the student must overcome to enrol. To access the course, a B2 level proficiency in English is required. Only B2 certificates or equivalent certifications issued by the following institutions will be considered valid. • CLA, Language Center of the University of Florence; • Other EU or EU-assimilated Universities’ Language Centers; • Cambridge ESOL; • City and Guilds (Pitman); • Edexcel/Pearson Ltd; • Educational Testing Service (ETS); • English Speaking Board (ESB); • International English Language Testing System (IELTS); • Pearson – LCCI; • Pearson – EDI; • Trinity College London; • Department of English, Faculty of Arts – University of Malta; • National Qualifications Authority of Ireland – Accreditation and Coordination of English Language Services (NQAI – ACELS); • Ascentis; • AIM Awards. • Gatehouse Awards Ltd • LanguageCert • University of Cambridge Examinations (starting from First Certificate, FCE); • International English Language Testing System (IELTS, starting from level 5.5); • Trinity College of London (starting from level ISE II); • Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL, starting from 80). PERSONAL PREPARATION REQUIREMENTS. The number of students admitted to the study program will be determined annually based on available educational resources, following the proposal of the study program council and the resolution of the academic bodies. Available places will be allocated through separate calls for EU and assimilated students and non-EU students. Access to the call will be allowed to students who have obtained the required qualifications for admission, with a grade point average (GPA) higher than the country-specific threshold indicated in Annex 2. Students who meet the curricular requirements will be ranked based on their GPA, which will be adjusted using the country-specific conversion coefficients published in Annex 2.
