Course program
The FIRST MODULE gives a general overview of the discipline and discusses the main theoretical and methodological issues related to labour market’s characters and changes and the relationship between labour and welfare policies, in Italy and Europe. The reference text for the I module is: Emilio Reyneri, Sociologia del mercato del lavoro, Bologna, Il Mulino, 2011.
The SECOND MODULE deals with the different forms of work and labour market participation; it focuses on different social actors (young people, women, old people, immigrants, etc..) and it analyses theirs conditions of employment and their life strategies. The reference text is the second volume of the Handbook of Reyneri.
The THIRD MODULE introduces the issue of Industrial relations, providing theoretical and methodological models for the study of IR systems, social players’ behaviour, interest organizations’ characters, cultures and strategies. Particular attention is devoted to current issues in Italy and in Europe.
During the first, second, but especially the third module, other hours (corresponding to those of a FOURTH FORM and distributed within nine appointments to be held on Monday afternoon from 15 to 18 at the laboratory Laboris) are dedicated to the presentation of basic concepts and theoretical models for the analysis of the labour market and for the understanding of the negotiating processes. Through practices, seminaries and encounters with the expert outsides that will afford a reflection on concrete cases and real experiences will be deepened some topics faced during the theoretical lessons of the other modules.
