Functions

The Research Observatory monitors both the consistency and the type of research activities and the quality of the research products of the permanent and contract staff operating at the various University units. In relation to these surveys and based on specific requests from the President, the governing bodies of the University (Academic Senate and the Board of Directors) and the Research Commission, the Observatory reports to verify the quality of the University's research and to improve performance. It also closely interacts with the Quality Control Unit, the Evaluation Unit and the Departments.

It guarantees the dissemination of the results of its activity in compliance with the principle of maximum transparency and the protection of personal data.

The Academic Senate and the Board of Directors have established, in 2018, the Research Observatory for the surveying and systematic monitoring of the consistency and relevance of the research activities of the University and its results, in view of the continuous improvement of recognized levels of quality.

Composition

It is composed of 10 scientific experts with a high scientific profile and with experience in research evaluation in the sectors: Formal and Experimental Sciences and Technologies and Life Sciences and Human Political and Social Science (consult the composition).
