Enrol in a single course

Who can enrol in single courses:

• citizens of the European Union or non-EU citizens who have graduated or enroled at Italian or foreign universities or equivalent institutions not enrolled in any degree program at the University of Florence;
• citizens of the European Union or levelled non-EU citizens who have a high school diploma and are not enroled in any degree programme at the University of Florence;
• citizens of the European Union or non-EU citizens enroled at foreign universities that intend to carry out a training activity at the healthcare facilities affiliated with the courses of study of the School of Human Health Sciences, according to the procedure and deadline set forth by the individual courses themselves;
• students who have a first (bachelor) degree and who, to enrol in a second (master's) cycle degree programmes, must fulfill specific curricular requirements to access the programme of their choice. The number of CFU/ECTS required is established by the Education Committee of the School offering the course (in this case the 60 CFU/ECTS limit is not applicable);
• it is also possible — with the authorisation of the relevant degree programme, issued by the programme that identifies the academic deficiency during the access‑requirements assessment — to attend teaching activities delivered within restricted‑access programmes, without the need for any additional clearance;
• holders of a health area certificate, subject to a formative compensation period (registration is possible, with the authorization of the course of studies concerned also for the teachings activated in the framework of courses with restricted access; since they are not aimed at obtaining the title, it is not necessary to have a schooling career of 12 years in the country of origin);
• Unifi staff, free of charge as part of the annual training plan, to acquire a maximum of 12 CFU/ECTS per academic year. 

The application for enrolment in single courses must be completed online on GCS portal according to the dates set in the calendar of deadlines.

Online application

• EU students and EU‑equivalent students who hold an Italian or foreign upper‑secondary school diploma or an Italian or foreign academic qualification; or who are enroled at an Italian or foreign university;
• Non‑EU students residing abroad who hold an Italian or foreign academic qualification; or who are enroled at an Italian or foreign university;
• Students who hold a first (bachelor’s) degree and need to clear an academic deficiency in order to access a second (master’s) degree programme.

In the online enrolment procedure, students who hold an access qualification obtained abroad must upload their qualification, as specified on the Study titles obtained outside of Italy webpage. Students must notify that they have completed the procedure by sending an email to:

• non‑EU students residing abroad — to the International Desk
• EU students and EU‑equivalent students — to the Student Administrative Office of the relevant degree programme.

Students enroled at a foreign university must upload a certificate of enrolment issued by the foreign university, duly legalised or apostilled and translated into Italian. If the document is issued in English, French or Spanish, no translation into Italian is required.

Hard-copy application 

The application for enrolment must instead be submitted using the paper form CS_01, together with the attachments indicated in the form, and must be delivered to the Student Administration Office responsible for the chosen degree programme by:

• those with healthcare area qualifications that need to do a supplementary training period;
• non-EU citizens who want to carry out training in affiliated healthcare facilities.

The list of exams indicated at the time of enrolment cannot be modified afterwards. After enrolment — and also beyond the enrolment deadline, until 30 April — students already enroled in single courses may request to add further exams in addition to those indicated during enrolment, within the limit of the permitted ECTS/CFU and by paying the corresponding additional tuition fees.

Students enroled in single courses take the exams in the same way as students enroled in degree programmes.

Students enroled in single courses can take only the exams required by the educational offer of the academic year of enrollment. Enrolment in single modules is not allowed nor can the number of credits taken be lower than the number established for each of the subjects.

The enrolment fee for single course units consists of:

• 16.00 euro stamp duty
• 202.00 euro enrolment contribution
• 11.00 euro for each ECTS credit the student wishes to obtain

If students want to add more single subjects to their study load after they have paid the registration fee, they need to pay only the fees corresponding to the additional credits added.

For students eligible for compensatory measures only, the enrolment fee is set at 300 euro per semester.

The enrolment fee must be paid upon completion of the enrolment procedure.

The enrolment fee for individual course units is non‑refundable under any circumstances.

If, after paying the enrolment fee, the student wishes to enrol in additional individual course units, only the contributions corresponding to the added ECTS credits must be paid.

Students eligible for full exemptions are required to pay only the 16 euro stamp duty, requesting the exemption from the Student Academic Career Office after completing the online application.

Students enroled at foreign universities that have cultural cooperation agreements providing for student exchanges may enrol in the individual learning activities offered by the degree programmes.

Application form

Students must register on the GCS portal and then send the following documents by e-mail to the International Desk - internationaldesk(AT)unifi.it - within the terms of the agreement between the universities:

• letter of acceptance from the University professor responsible for the agreement, indicating the period of study;
• copy of the learning agreement;
• copy of passport with entry visa for "study" (for non-EU citizens) or copy of an identity document (in the case of EU citizens). For stays of up to 90 days, citizens of certain countries are exempt from the entry visa requirement;
• copy of the residence permit or residence permit application accompanied by a copy of the passport with the specific entry visa for non-tourist reasons (for non-EU citizens), except in cases where, in view of the duration of the mobility, it is not necessary to submit an application.

Exams

Students take exams in the same way as students enroled in degree programmes.

• A student enroled in a Unifi degree programme may not simultaneously enrol in individual course units offered by other Unifi degree programmes;
• A student enroled in a Unifi degree programme may simultaneously enrol in individual course units offered by another university;
• A student enroled in a degree programme at another university may enrol in individual course units at Unifi;
• A student enrolled in a Unifi Ph.D. programme may enrol in individual course units provided they obtain authorisation from the Ph.D. Board.
