The main concepts of microeconomics, such as the problem of the consumer, the problem of the firm, and the equilibrium between demand and supply, are presented in the first part of the course. The market with perfect competition is compared with the monopoly, the oligopoly, and the market with competitive competition. The main concepts of macroeconomics, such as determination and dynamic of GDP, unemployment rate, financial markets, and money, are presented in the second part of the course.

Type of Assessment
Oral exam. Each student will also be required to produce a short manuscript (see instructions below). The oral exam will consist of a first part in which the student will freely expose her/his short manuscript (about 5 minutes) and a specific question that will focus on a topic related to the short manuscript. In the second part of the exam the student's knowledge will be tested with at least two questions, one relating to microeconomic issues and the other relating to macroeconomic issues. The questions usually relate to general aspects of the subject, and then connect them to some specific aspects of the topic. The oral test will be considered sufficient if all the answers are sufficient. The quality of the short manuscript and its presentation will be part of the final evaluation.
