Electric mobility, Unifi designs a new micro-vehicle

Project coordinated by the Department of Industrial Engineering

The concept of the monowheel and that of the scooter will be joined by the new electric micro vehicle that will be developed and tested by a team coordinated by Dario Vangi, professor of Mechanical Design and Machine Construction.

Quiet, clean, light, energy efficient and safe, but also aesthetically pleasing and economical. These are the features that will make the new vehicle attractive for the electric mobility market.

The three-year "microvehicLE for staNd-Alone and shaReD mObility - LEONARDO" project will be launched at the beginning of 2021. The research, which involves eight other partners in addition to the University of Florence, including Betamotor, has been awarded nearly two million euros under the European Commission's Horizon 2020 program.

Among the objectives, not only the development and construction of the vehicle but also an important test and redesign activity. In fact, the new vehicle is expected to be tested free of charge by hundreds of users in four European cities, including Rome, to collect the feedback needed to fine-tune the project.
