University corridors for refugee students

Scholarships for enrollment in master's degree programs taught in English

The University of Florence is participating again this year in the project UNICORE - University Corridors for Refugees, an initiative of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) to give refugee students the opportunity to pursue their academic careers in Italy.

Now in its sixth year, UNICORE 6.0 boasts the membership of 41 Italian universities and offers the opportunity for 68 refugees to pursue their academic careers in Italy. The students, currently refugees in Kenya, Mozambique, Niger, Nigeria, South Africa, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia, Zimbabwe, will be selected based on merit and motivation through an open call for applications.

The University of Florence, which joined the UNHCR project in 2020, is publishing a call for applications for two scholarships and hosting services to refugee students enrolling in the master's degree programs taught in English for the academic years 2024/25 and 2025/26. The call for applications will close on 15 April 2024 (learn more).

UNICORE collaborates with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Caritas Italiana, Diaconia Valdese, Centro Astalli, Fondazione Finanza Etica and Gandhi Charity. The University of Florence is also supported locally by the Diaconia Valdese-CSD and the Centro Internazionale Studenti Giorgio La Pira.
