Applied Psychology: Double recognition for Annamaria Di Fabio

A significant international recognition for Annamaria Di Fabio, Professor of Work and Organizational Psychology at the Department of Education, Languages, Intercultures, Literatures and Psychology (FORLILPSI). Di Fabio has been elected president-elect of Division 1 (Work & Organizational Psychology) of the International Association of Applied Psychology (IAAP), the world's oldest association for Applied Psychology. No Italian had previously held this position. 

The IAAP comprises 18 divisions, Division 1 focuses on Work and Organizational Psychology at an international level. Its aim is to apply scientific research to enhance individual well-being in professional contexts and optimize organizational effectiveness. It focuses specifically on creation of healthy, inclusive work environments, on development of sustainable careers, and on promotion of decent work for all, aligning business and professional practices with global goals of social sustainability. 

Di Fabio will hold the position for 12 years (four as president-elect, four as president-in-charge, and four as past-president). The term will officially begin at the conclusion of the 31st International Congress of Applied Psychology (ICAP 2026), an event for which Di Fabio serves as vice-president and president of the scientific committee, taking place in Florence at the Fortezza da Basso from July 21 to 25. Furthermore, at the conclusion of the event, Di Fabio will be awarded the IAAP Fellowship, a lifetime recognition reserved for renowned psychologists who have made significant contributions to the field of Applied Psychology. 

To apply for the Fellowship, one must have been a full member of the Association for at least four consecutive years and possess at least ten years of experience in the field of psychology. In the last 20 years, only four Italian university professors have been appointed IAAP Fellows. Annamaria Di Fabio is ranked among the Top Italian Scientists and is an international pioneer in introducing the Psychology of Sustainability and Sustainable Development within Sustainability Sciences. Her work with the IAAP notably includes coordinating the international special project “Promoting Decent Work for All” and her appointment to the Board of Directors in 2018.
