International Mobility Support for Early Career Researchers

Fondazione CR Firenze Funds Two Research Positions

Thanks to funding from Fondazione CR Firenze, the University of Florence has published a call for applications for two early career researchers who obtained their Ph.D. within the last five years. Entirely supported by the Foundation with a total budget of 160,000 euro, the initiative offers two 18-month research contracts (Art. 22-bis Italian Law 240/2010) divided into two equal phases: the first nine months—to be completed by 31 December 2027—will be spent abroad at a leading university or scientific institution, while the remaining nine months will take place within a Department of the University of Florence to complete the work.

The initiative aims to support emerging talent and foster international and interdisciplinary scientific exchange, ensuring that advanced expertise gained abroad is brought back and applied locally to benefit both the region and the academic community.

Internal and external candidates can submit their application by 3 November 2026. Proposals will be evaluated on innovation, scientific excellence, suitability of the host institution abroad, and the potential to generate positive local impact upon return to Italy. Multidisciplinary project proposals may address topics in any field of research across the three European Research Council (ERC) domains: SH – Social Sciences and Humanities; PE – Physical Sciences and Engineering (Mathematics, physical sciences, information and communication, engineering, universe and earth sciences); LS – Life Sciences.
