Student Opinion Survey

Introduced in 1999 (Law 370/1999), the Student Opinion Survey on teaching (Rilevazione dell’Opinione degli Studenti - ROS) is now a cornerstone of the Self-Assessment, Evaluation and Accreditation (AVA) framework established by ANVUR (National Agency for the Evaluation of Universities and Research), designed to promote and ensure quality across academic processes.

The University of Florence strictly complies with the requirements of the AVA framework. 

The Student Opinion Survey (ROS) applies to all teaching units and modules (insegnamenti or moduli di insegnamento) offered within Degree Programmes governed by Ministerial Decrees D.M. 509/1999 and D.M. 270/2004.

Completing the survey form is completely anonymous (i.e. evaluations cannot be linked in any way to those who provided them) and is carried out online, starting once two-thirds of the classes have taken place and up until registering for the course examination for the evaluated learning activity. However, the University recommends that attending students complete the survey forms within one week of the end of classes.

Completed survey forms are transferred to the SISValDidat statistical information system, which is used for viewing and analysing the data collected through the survey. Data uploads to the system typically take place according to the following schedule:

  • 28 February (at the end of the winter course examination session);
  • 31 July (at the end of the summer course examination session);
  • 31 October (at the end of the autumn course examination session);
  • 31 December (at the close of the academic year).

Scientific coordination of teaching evaluation activities is led by Bruno Bertaccini, member of the University Quality Assurance Presidium (PQA).

Structure of the Questionnaire

The questionnaire consists of 13 questions divided into 3 sections:

  • Course organisation
  • Teaching staff
  • Overall satisfaction

Based on the answers provided to two initial filter questions (specifically indicating class attendance percentage and, where applicable, the academic year to which the evaluation refers), students will be presented with a tailored subset of questions from the full questionnaire.

Information for students

Log in to the Student Career Management Portal (GCS). Once logged in, open the menu in the top right-hand corner and select "Questionnaires".
