Education and Promotion of a Quality Culture

The Quality Assurance Presidium (PQA), in collaboration with the Teaching and Learning Centre (T&LC), actively promotes a culture of quality as a shared value across the university community. Particular focus is given to developing training programmes and opportunities for dialogue among academic staff, professional staff and student representatives, aiming to make Quality Assurance (QA) processes more meaningful, transparent, participatory and accessible.

These initiatives form part of the continuous improvement process (PDCA cycle). They aim to guide the University of Florence community towards a collaborative approach to process management, enabling the quality of degree programmes and services to be monitored and assured while respecting distinct roles and responsibilities.

Governing bodies and senior leadership participate in dedicated seminars focusing on the AVA3 system, accreditation, and self-assessment frameworks. Targeted training programmes are provided for academic staff, degree programme directors, and quality assurance support staff, enabling them to enhance analytical and planning skills for the continuous improvement of degree programmes. 

Workshops and meetings organised for student representatives across the University enable them to understand their vital role within the institution. These sessions provide an opportunity to explore key aspects of quality assurance and highlight how student engagement actively contributes to internal evaluation processes.

Technical and administrative staff actively participate in targeted training sessions and quality assurance activities alongside academic staff in leadership and coordination roles. This collaborative approach fosters effective teamwork and ensures that all staff remain up to date with evolving ministerial requirements and best practices for monitoring and evaluating degree programmes.

To ensure wider engagement, dedicated training materials and self-paced online courses have been made available to the university community on the Moodle platform.
