Your academic qualification obtained abroad must be accompanied by certain essential documents in order to be considered valid in Italy. Declaration of Value The Declaration of Value (Dichiarazione di valore in loco) is an official informative document issued by Italian diplomatic and consular authorities abroad. It describes the status and value of your academic qualification in the country where it was obtained and indicates which level of studies it may grant access to in Italy.The Declaration of Value is by no means a form of authomatic recognition of qualification obtained abroad. CIMEA verification and comparability statements If you are unable to obtain the Declaration of Value, you may istead apply for the CIMEA verification and comparability statements online through the DiploMe portal.If CIMEA issues only the comparability statement and not the verification one, your academic qualification must be legalised or apostilled.Only for qualifications issued by one of the 55 countries that have signed the Lisbon Recognition Convention, it is possible to automatically and free of charge download a correspondence statement from the ARDI database instead of the comparability statement. However, remember that you must also request the verification statement via the DiploMe portal.Students with political asylum or subsidiary protectionIf you have the political asylum or subsidiary protection status in Italy, you can use the CIMEA for Refugees portal to obtain the statements free of charge. In this case, simpli request the CIMEA comparability statement.Students with particular residence permitsIf you hold a residence permit isueed for natural disaster, victims of domestic violence, severe labour exploitation, acts of particular civic value, or special protection (Art. 32, paragraph 3 of Legislative Decree No. 25 of 28 January 2008), you may submit only the CIMEA comparability statement instead of the Declaration of Value (Dichiarazione di valore in loco).
