Research contracts (art. 22), and Post-doctoral assignments (art. 22-bis) (Law 240/2010) Research Contracts (art. 22, Law 240/2010) Research contracts (contratti di ricerca) are fixed-term employment contracts of a subordinate nature, stipulated for the exclusive purpose of carrying out specific research projects. These projects may be funded wholly or partly with internal funds, or financed by third parties, both public and private, on the basis of specific agreements or conventions. Research contracts have a duration of two years and may be renewed only once for an additional two years. In the case of research projects of national, European, or international scope, research contracts have a two-year duration, which may be extended for up to one additional year, depending on the specific requirements related to the objectives and type of project. Eligible candidates for research contracts include those holding a Ph.D. or an equivalent qualification obtained abroad, or, for the relevant fields, a medical specialization degree. Also eligible are those enrolled in the third year of a PhD program or in the final year of a medical specialization program, provided that the degree is expected to be obtained within six months from the date of publication of the selection notice.Post-Doc Assignments (art. 22 bis, Law 240/2010) Post-doc assignments (incarichi post-doc) are fixed-term employment contracts of a subordinate nature, stipulated for the purpose of carrying out research activities, as well as collaborating in teaching and third mission activities. These assignments may be funded wholly or partly with internal funds, or financed by third parties, both public and private, on the basis of specific agreements or conventions. Post-doc assignments have a minimum duration of one year and may be extended up to a total duration of three years. Eligible candidates for post-doc assignments are exclusively those holding a Ph.D. or an equivalent qualification obtained abroad, or, for the relevant fields, a medical specialization degree.Contracts and assignments are awarded through the calls for applications published on the relevant webpage in Italian.
