Canteens and Accommodation

Catering services and university accommodation are managed by DSU Toscana, the Regional Agency for the Right to Education, which also provides scholarships, financial aid, and other dedicated student services.

Near the university campuses and main sites, you will find several DSU Toscana dining points where you can have lunch or dinner at reduced rates. The cost of meals varies according to your ISEE (Equivalent Economic Situation Indicator) value, based on the income brackets established by DSU Toscana.

University canteens are open to:

• students enrolled in degree programmes;
• Ph.D. students;
• students enrolled in Professional Master’s programmes, advanced training courses, and Specialisation Schools;
• international students;
• visiting professors and international researchers.

To use the canteen service, you must access it via the “My DSU” app, which replaces previous identification methods.

If you are an international student, you can access the canteen service using the card issued by DSU Toscana. To obtain it, you must submit an ID document and proof of enrolment at the University of Florence.

DSU Toscana provides accommodation in residence for non-resident students (studenti fuori sede) who meet the requirements specified in the annual call for applications. You are considered a non-resident student if you reside in a municipality other than the one where your degree programme is based, with a travel time exceeding one hour.

Places are awarded through a public selection process based on financial standing and merit. The call for applications is usually published during the summer.

University Supplementary Contribution - The University of Florence has published a call for applications for a rent grant covering rental expenses incurred by students living away from home during the 2025/2026 academic year.

This extraordinary measure, made possible by a 1 million euro investment by the University, aims to ease the burden of rising rental costs.
