Training for faculty and researchers

Training for faculty and researchers constitutes a strategic lever for developing the quality of teaching and the educational offer of the University of Florence. It contributes to the improvement of teaching-learning processes and to the professional development of academic staff.

The University of Florence promotes training for faculty and researchers as an integral part of the processes of educational innovation, research development, and the growth of the academic community.

Training accompanies the evolution of the teaching role and the professional skills within the academic community, supporting the development of the skills necessary to design effective, inclusive, and quality-oriented learning experiences, enhance the knowledge produced by research, and address the digital, organisational, and cultural transformations of the contemporary university.

What it offers

The educational offer is divided into paths dedicated to the development of university learning and teaching skills, with constant attention to quality and innovation.

The paths guide faculty in designing training activities, adopting innovative methodologies, and consciously using educational technologies, while promoting a culture of teaching quality.

Through the Teaching & Learning Center, the University fosters the dissemination of student-centered, inclusive, and evidence-based learning models.

The offer also includes paths dedicated to developing the transversal and professional skills of the academic community.

The initiatives address themes related to methodological innovation, scientific communication, European project design, open science, public engagement, digital transformation, and the enhancement of Research and teaching.

The University also promotes opportunities for international dialogue, interdisciplinary collaboration, and the exchange of practices through networks, projects, and shared initiatives with national and European partners.

How it works

Training initiatives are part of a coordinated system that integrates planning, implementation, and evaluation, oriented towards the continuous improvement of teaching quality.

Training is developed in alignment with the University's strategic goals and the emerging needs of the academic community, through an integrated system that connects needs assessment, activity design, monitoring, and evaluation of outcomes.

The system allows for measuring the outcomes and the impact of training activities on the innovation of teaching practices and learning processes. The educational offer integrates in-person, blended, and online activities, as well as self-learning paths, fostering flexible ways to access training and a culture of continuous learning throughout the entire professional career.
