Unifi joins the IUPALS project

Scholarships and accommodation services for Palestinian students for Second Cycle (master's) degrees in English

Promoting the right to higher education for students living in the Palestinian territories by facilitating access to university programmes offered in Italy.

This is the goal of the Italian Universities for Palestinian Students (IUPALS) project, promoted by the Conference of Italian University Rectors (CRUI), in which the University of Florence participates alongside other Italian universities.

The University of Florence has announced 3 scholarships, including accommodation services, for Palestinian citizens living in the West Bank, Gaza Strip, or East Jerusalem who wish to enrol in one of the University's English-language, unrestricted Second Cycle (master's) degree programmes. These programmes are offered by the Schools of Agriculture, Architecture, Economics and Management, Engineering, Humanities and Education, Mathematical, Physical and Natural Sciences, and Political Sciences.

The scholarship covers two academic years (2025/26 and 2026/27) and provides €5,000 per year. Benefits include full exemption from university fees, free accommodation in university residences, and access to the university canteens by Diritto allo Studio Universitario della Toscana. It includes additional support services to assist students throughout studies, such as psychological support, academic tutoring, Italian language courses, and initiatives to promote social inclusion.

Overall, IUPALS offers 97 scholarships provided by 35 Italian universities. The project is a collaborative effort involving the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, the Ministry of University and Research, the Consulate General of Italy in Jerusalem, the Schools of the Holy Land, and the John Paul II Foundation.
