The Academic Senate (Senato Accademico) is the representative body of the various groups across the University, responsible for planning, regulation, and coordination.It is composed of 31 members: the Rector, who acts as Chair; 20 tenured professors or researchers, including 2 Heads of Department for each of the 5 scientific-disciplinary areas of the University, 2 fixed-term researchers, 3 representatives of the technical-administrative staff and language teaching assistants (CEL); and 5 student representatives. The Deputy Vice-Rector and the Director General, who serves as minute secretary, attend meetings of the Academic Senate in a non-voting capacity.The responsibilities of the Academic Senate include: Decision-making authority over the General University Regulations, the University Academic Regulations, and the Code of Ethics and Conduct; Advisory functions concerning three-year strategic planning documents, annual and three-year budgets, financial statements, and the establishment, modification, or discontinuation of Departments and degree programmes; Coordination with Departments and Schools.
