The theatre company "Binario di scambio" (switch track), recognized since August 2014 as the University of Florence's Theatre Company, is a specific educational and scientific activity of university students with an experimental approach. Founded by Teresa Megale in the academic year 2006-2007, it is a permanent creative workshop, open to all members, which brings together students of different ages and experiences to put their artistic inclinations and talents to fruition

The Company has taken the name of 'Exchange Track', to emphasize how making theatre is an opportunity to stimulate curiosity, experiment, train, conceive, invent, exchange the theater. The experience involves the students in all the aspects concerning the live performance: from the idea to the representation, from the artistic side to production and distribution. Years of experimentation and theatrical practice have created a small wealth of ideas, knowledge and theatrical values in young people. Over the years, the Company has been directed by Cristina Pezzoli, Alessio Pizzech, Fabio Cocifoglia and Stefania Stefanin.

The Company has attracted much interest in Tuscany and nationally and has been nominated to participate in various events, collaborating with the Teatro della Pergola, the Teatro Metastasio, the International Festival of the Roman Theater of Volterra, the Natural History Museum of the University of Florence, the Palazzo Pretorio Museum in Prato, Officina Giovani - Cultural Sites of the Municipality of Prato, Fondazione Toscana Spettacolo, Festival of Creativity, Firenze dei Teatri, Rai-Radio 3.

To its credit it has the project of artistic residence Ri_Nascite at Officina Giovani - Cultural Sites, carried out in 2012-2013 together with the Municipality of Prato, promoted and supported by the Department of Youth-Presidency of the Council of Ministers and by the National Association of Italian Municipalities (ANCI). The account of the artistic residency was resulted in the volume "Contesti teatrali universitari" (university's theatrical contexts), prefaced by president Alberto Tesi, edited by Teresa Megale with the collaboration of Antonia Liberto (Florence University Press, Florence, 2014).

In May 2014, the Company was awarded the 'Culture di Gestione' (management culture) Award promoted by Federculture in a public ceremony at the National Roman Museum Baths of Diocletian in Rome.

The completed projects include: La Storia e il Teatro, theatrical actions aimed at disseminating historical sources, carried out with the Archival Superintendency of Tuscany; the artistic collaboration with the Museum of Natural History of Florence and with the Museum of Palazzo Pretorio di Prato to mark the occasion of the exhibitions Masterpieces that meet, Bellini Caravaggio Tiepolo and Masters Painters of Tuscany and Veneto in the Banca Popolare di Vicenza Collection, and Jacques Lipchitz in Monaco, Florence and Prato.

In 2016, Binario di Scambio produced the show La macchina degli spropositi, (the blunders' machine) dedicated to Don Quijote by Miguel de Cervantes, in collaboration with the Teatro Metastasio. Eighty students took part in the production, preceded by a long preparation (Prato, Teatro Magnolfi, 4-5 June 2016). In 2017 the Company made its debut with Enif Fine Enif, a show dedicated to actress-writer Enif Robert. A hundred and thirty students took part in the realization of the performance, which was the final event of the project 'Peace was my goal - Prato and the Great War' promoted by the Municipality and the Lazzerini Library of Prato and by the Presidency of the Council of Ministers, (Prato, Teatro Magnolfi, 27 May 2017).

In 2018 it contributed to the realization of Residenze d'Artista (artistic residencies), a project conceived and promoted by Teresa Megale in collaboration with the Degree Courses in Pro.Ge.A.S, and in Performance Sciences and the Municipality of Prato. The first artists residing were the company Rezza-Mastrella and Ruggero Cappuccio.

Also in 2018 the Company produced the show U ± R Rapporto sull'UOMO all'epoca dei ROBOT, the final outcome of a reflection aimed at analyzing the controversial relationship between technological future, humanity, knowledge and art (Prato, Officina Giovani - Cantieri Culturali, 1-3 June 2018), freely inspired by RUR by Karel Čapek. With this production, Binario di Scambio was invited to participate in the "fAcT" Festival, organized by the Scuola Normale Superiore in Pisa, which resulted in the opportunity to meet with the university theatrical realities of Pisa, Urbino, Padua and Oxford (Pisa, Piazza dei Cavalieri 19 June 2018).
