Student and teaching staff mobility take place within the framework of Bilateral agreements signed between the University of Florence and Institutions of Higher Education based in the Countries participating in the programme.
The University of Florence has long since chosen to draw up “University Bilateral agreements” with partner Institutions, instead of single School agreements.
It is however up to the School to contact eligible partners and verify the willingness of both sides to accept a number of students and/or teaching staff members in the relevant field of study.
Since Bilateral agreements are global University Agreements, they are signed by the Legal Representative of University of Florence or by an officially appointed Delegate and are drafted and submitted to partner Institutions by the Central Erasmus Office - Area Servizi alla Didattica - Mobilità internazionale - to be duly signed and stamped for acceptance by the Official Representative of the partner Institution.
To draw up University Bilateral Agreements the Ufficio Orientamento, Mobilità Internazionale e Servizi agli studenti collects the list of new, modified or confirmed exchanges from the Erasmus coordinators of the 10 Schools of the University of Florence usually by the deadline of September 30th every year. University Bilateral Agreement proposals are then drafted and sent to partner Institutions in October-November each year, with validity starting from the following academic year.
Professors interested in starting new agreements or new exchanges within the framework of already existing Erasmus agreements should agree the prospective mobility with their counterparts. It is advisable to use the form of Preliminary Agreement (rtf - pdf) since it contains all the information required to draw up the University Bilateral Agreement proposal, including the Erasmus Identification Code of the partner institution (further information on eligible institutions - link to external website).
Once the Preliminary Agreement is accepted by both parties, it should be notified to the Erasmus School Coordinators (Delegati Erasmus di Scuola) and their staff (Servizi Relazioni Internazionali di Scuola) will accordingly inform the Central Erasmus Office (Ufficio Orientamento, Mobilità Internazionale e Servizi agli studenti) usually by the deadline of September 30th every year.
Mobility figures included in existing Bilateral Agreements are considered confirmed without modifications for the following academic year if there is no notice of requested changes in the list sent by Erasmus coordinators to the Central Erasmus office usually by the deadline September 30th every year.
If partner Institutions suggest modifications to existing agreements, the Central Erasmus Office (Ufficio Orientamento, Mobilità Internazionale e Servizi agli studenti) will inform the concerned Erasmus Coordinator and ask for the approval of the requested changes.
In case of requested changes to existing mobility figures Professors should inform the Erasmus Coordinator of the concerned School by September 30th every year and consequently the Central Erasmus Office (Ufficio Orientamento, Mobilità Internazionale e Servizi agli studenti) can draft and send revised Erasmus Bilateral agreement proposals to partner Institutions.
If partner Institutions send counterproposals to the Central Erasmus office (Ufficio Orientamento, Mobilità Internazionale e Servizi agli studenti), the office will inform the concerned Erasmus Coordinator and ask for the approval of the requested changes.
