The course aims to provide students with the ability to analyze bioethical issues and to apply philosophical knowledge to concrete cases in an interdisciplinary context.
Bachelor's degree. Basic knowledge of ethics.

Type of Assessment
The final test will be oral. It aims to verify the correct assimilation of knowledge, the ability to apply the ethical-philosophical categories and reasoning to biomedical cases and to develop an autonomous thought on the topics addressed in the course.
Topics of the first part of the course will be the history, the definition, and the main theories and concepts of bioethics. Some questions will be examined, such as assisted fertilization, abortion, euthanasia, termination of medical treatments, enhancement, allocation of health resources. In the second part of the course, the relationship between animal ethics and bioethics will be analyzed, with reference to the morality of the use of non-human animals in medical research.
