Nativity Scene at Villa La Quiete

Free guided tours during Christmas time

During the month of December a special Nativity scene is set up at Villa La Quiete, a complex owned by the Region of Tuscany managed by the University Museum System. The Scene is an important artistic testimony of the sculptural activity of Tuscan craftsmen of the eighteenth century, inspired by the famous Neapolitan nativity scenes.

The crib, which is located at the lower choir of the Villa's Chapel - where the Montalve Sisters could attend religious services in isolation from the outside -shows the most interesting elements of the artistic genre linked to the scenographic construction of the birth of Jesus. Visitors can admire the precious fabrics (silk and velvet) that dress the characters of the scene, the attention to the decorative details, the expression of the feelings of amazement and admiration in front of the sacred scene.

The 45-minute guided tours begin on Friday 8 December and will take place Saturdays and Sundays from 9 to 24 December, at 2.30 pm, 3.30 pm and 4.30 pm. Reservation is required (More details
