Autumn at Villa La Quiete

The schedule of guided tours to the masterpieces held in the former Montalve Convent

Below is the new program of guided tours at Villa La Quiete.

This monumental complex on the hill of Castello, currently owned by the Region of Tuscany and managed by the University Museum System, is an extraordinary witness to the history of the House of Medici.

The Villa - linked to the events of the religious order of Montalve, dedicated to female education - was over the centuries the residence of the Grand Duchess Christina of Lorraine, the founder of the Order Eleonora Ramirez de Montalvo, of Vittoria della Rovere and, later on in the eighteenth century, by Anna Maria Luisa de' Medici, Electress of the Palatinate.

The exhibit itinerary "From Botticelli to Foggini. Itineraries of Florentine art at Villa La Quiete", bears witness to this story. The exhibition will be open throughout September and it is free of charge. Access is by reservation only.

Guided tours' times : Saturday and Sunday from 6 pm, Via di Boldrone, 2 Florence.

It will be possible to admire the sixteenth-century altarpieces such as the Coronation of the Virgin and Saints, by Sandro Botticelli and his workshop, and the Mystical Marriage of Saint Catherine, by Ridolfo del Ghirlandaio and Michele Tosini. The guided tours will also take the public inside the Baroque church and in some monumental rooms of the Villa, such as the seventeenth-century pharmacy and the frescoed rooms.
