The first part of the course is aimed at explaining the main concepts of mechanics: kinematics and dynamics of point masses, systems of point masses, rigid bodies, fluids. Several applications will be discussed, with reference to each topic covered within the course.
ELECTROMAGNETISM: electric charge, Coulomb's law, superposition principle, electric field, field lines, motion of a charge in an electric field, electric potential, electrostatic energy, electric dipole, Gauss's theorem, conductors, Coulomb's theorem, capacitors, dielectrics, electric current, Ohm's law, resistors, electromotive force, RC circuits, Kirchhoff's principles, magnetic field, Lorentz force, Laplace's laws, Biot-Savart law, Ampère's law, magnetism in matter, Faraday's law, self and mutual inductance, RL circuits, Maxwell's equations.
