The Laboratory aims to introduce students to the use of
open access tools for: (1) the analysis of web data (log files); (2) online questionnaires and surveys.
The course is composed of two computer lab modules.

Introduction to R software.

1) Introduction to WUM (Web Usage Mining)
with application to the analysis of logfiles.
2) Online web surveys. Introduction to the use of Limesurvey.
3) A brief introduction to web content analysis.

Introduction to R programming for statistics.
Prof. Grassini (3 credits)
Introduction to web analysis. Technical terminology. What is a web logfile and how it can be processed to provide information from data. Case study: the navigation patterns in the web site of the Department of statistics, informatics and applications.
Online surveys with Limesurvey. case study: design of a web questionnaire to study phenomena related to tourism (for example tourists' behavior, etc.).
