The main goal is to provide knowledge about the basic concepts, theories, mental processes and methodological approaches in the field of Psychology.
This course will enable students to gain knowledge about the theoretical and methodological aspects of the principal issues concerning classical and modern Psychology. Particular attention will be focused on discussing some current researches and techniques. The course will provide students with the skills needed to understand the biological and psychological factors subserving the human behavior, the mental functions and the emotional-affective and motivational states. These skills will be acquired also through the critical discussion of some main debated psychological topics. Particular emphasis will be given on the methodology employed in psychological research in order to allow students to develop autonomy in the critical discussion of some recent psychological studies. The topics covered in the course of General Psychology are necessary for attending successfully the subsequent courses.
