Thanks to the course , the student should be given the opportunity to acquire methodologies , critical historiographical expertise and skills in the approach to the sources for the theme of migration - invasion of the barbarians in the West , particularly with regard to the question of their impact on a social and religious point of view

Latin Epigraphy as a discipline and as a tool for historical inquiry

Basic knowledge of Roman history ; good knowledge of Latin and Greek .
Both the basic knowledge of Roman history and a good knowledge of Latin ( and possibly the greek ), since the lesson plans can not be modeled on individual needs. Philosophy students who wish to follow the course are required in any case strictly and previously reading a General Treaty on Roman history from the Archaic times to Late Antiquity

Lectures ex cathedra, but with active partecipation of students; use of materials distributed in photocopy and possibly powerpoint

Oral examination. Check on the issues and documents analysed and discussed in the classroom; knowledge of critical readings suggested

The analytical program will be indicated at the beginning of the respective modules. In general terms , we will study the Germanic migrations between the fourth and sixth centuries , in some of their aspects and introduce you to the epigraphic discipline also with exercises in class . For students from different courses of degree should be noted that the course ( in its first and second part ) is borrowed from the LM in philology and literature of ancient history . It is needed to attend at least two thirds of lessons , on the understanding that it is strongly hoped for a regular frequency . It is suggested for everyone to make a general Roman history refresher, especially with regard to the imperial age , and late Roman , before starting the course
