Criteria to design farm buildings at low environmental impact. Building and plant-engineering solutions to limit emissions to atmosphere, soil and water. Housing solutions and animal welfare. Health protection of livestock farms. Management and treatment of farm wastes. Use of wastes in agriculture. Biogas plants.
The professor gives to the students the presentations used in the lessons (pdf format), by means of e-learning Platform Moodle.
Learning Objectives
Knowledge acquired: the main goal is to form the students in relation to problems concerning the working of a sustainable building. Competence acquired (at the end of the course): Methods to evaluate an animal house, taking into consideration the goal of minimizing the environmental impact and respecting animal wellbeing. Skills acquired (at the end of the course): the student must acquire capacities necessary to evaluate a rural building, characterized by low environmental impact, aiming at the quality of products.

Teaching tools: Tv projector, e-learning (Moodle).
Type of Assessment
intermediate test on design aspects of rural buildings. Final oral exam.
The intermediate tests can be carried out online using Moodle platform.
Intermediate tests are counted for final vote.
Intermediate tests remain valid in the following academic years.
Evaluation criteria: in written tests with open questions or carrying out calculations, the unsuccessful answer and the wrong answer are considered in the same way; the oral exam takes into account: argumentative rigor, completeness, originality, language properties.
