Further information
The course is worth 12 CFU (72 hours of lessons). Please note that students must take part in at least 2/3 of the lessons. We strongly recommend attending the first introductory class.
Students who attend the 6 CFU course are required to bring the first part of the program, focused on the work of Ungaretti, Luzi Bigongiari and the informal art which will be carried out in the first part of the course.
Type of Assessment
The acquired knowledge and competence will be tested during class and at the oral exam.
Seminar: the students – divided into groups – will elaborate on one of the topics presented during the lectures by drafting a presentation to be exposed in class in the final part of the course. The topic will be agreed upon with the professor and selected according to the students’ interests and fields of specialization. Each presentation will be graded (insufficient, sufficient, good, very good, excellent) and the result will be taken into account in the final evaluation, that is, the oral exam.
Oral exam: the examination focuses on three specific areas:
- knowledge of the creative and theoretical texts of the authors taken into consideration during the course;
- knowledge of theoretical essays and critical essays related to the intersection between poetry and painting in the twentieth century;
- the discussion on the presentation realized and exposed during the course.
It is mandatory to show proficiency in all three areas to pass the exam.
Students will demonstrate that they can discuss the subjects treated during the course, make appropriate connections between different authors and works, and express themselves clearly.
Grades are given on the basis of 30 points. Points are awarded if students are able to
1) describe form and contents of the texts studied,
2) understand, summarize and propose critical readings of those texts,
3) elaborate personal judgements that are solidly grounded on the text and/or secondary literature,
4) use appropriate terms.
Nos. 1 and 4 are essential in order to obtain the minimum passing grade (18/30); higher evaluations depend on to what extent’ students have developed their skills in all four points listed above.
