Learning Objectives - Last names M-Z
The aim is to provide the student with the knowledge to carry out a project of a simple mechanical system.
Transversal capabilities:
CT1 - technical communication in written form (drafting of individual reports and reports)
CT2 - group work in coordinated mode
CT3 - development of a suitable expression and technical discussion of its arguments
CT4 -graphic representation and communication (drafting of diagrams, graphs and tables)
CT5 - understanding of technical standards
CT6 - conducting bibliographic searches using the main resources (libraries, scientific databases, etc.)
CT7 - respect commitments and times
CT8- communication through presentations and web systems
Prerequisites - Last names M-Z
To be in possession of the basics knowledge concerning mechanical design, applied mechanics, structural strength and materials processing technologies.
Teaching Methods - Last names M-Z
The course includes two lectures during which the teaching methods, the phases of the workshop are explained and examples of projects developed by the students of the previous courses are shown. Starting from the third lesson, students must form themselves in groups of two people (exceptionally groups of 3 persons or work carried out individually are allowed).
Groups must follow the following procedure:
1) proposal of the theme of the project and obtaining the approval of the teacher;
2) definition of the specific design technique and approval of the teacher;
3) design and verification of the mechanical assembly of the assigned design theme;
4) drafting of the technical report and presentation of two details of the compendium for each compendium of the group. The details must contain all the information necessary for the construction of the component.

The course is developed through the extensive use of the Moodle platform and through weekly reviews of the project. On the Moodle platform, once registered, students can set up a working group together with a colleague. The groups can initially interact with the teacher through a discussion forum that is freely accessible to all registered students. once the ideas have been clarified, the groups can "upload" their proposal of topic to be developed and the relative technical specification to be approved by the teacher.
Subsequently the groups can continue the discussion with the teacher and the other students, through a second discussion forum.
During the course of the course, groups can register for setitmanili reviews.
At the end of the course, students will have to "upload" their project to the Moodle platform.

During the weekly reviews, the groups present the progress of their work to the teacher and to the other students. The teacher has the opportunity to monitor, correct and direct the work. The teacher stimulates the active participation of the students present, asking them to indicate suggestions for the improvement of the project that comes. introduced. As a general rule, each group should use a maximum time of 15 minutes for each review session.
Type of Assessment - Last names M-Z
The evaluation takes place partly in itinere, during the weekly reviews with the assignment of a score to the various stages of development of the elaborate and partly during the final exam consisting of an oral examination with discussion of the developed project. The student must be able to present clearly the elaborate developed, demonstrating that he has understood at least a sufficient level the main problems encountered during the development of the project, and showing at least sufficient knowledge of the specific technical terminology of the sector. Since the course also stimulates the development of communication skills in front of an audience of students, it is also assessed that the student has learned skills at least sufficient in this regard.
