Course Content
The course develops and applies the principles of the economics to environmental issues, explores economic policies related to the preservation and sustainable management of natural resources, including the tradeoff of these policies. Finally, the course introduces to the principles of the bioeconomy i.e. the opportunities offered by an economy based on the sustainable exploitation of biological resources.

Learning Objectives
The student at the end of the course will be able to:
Apply economic models to explain the causes of environmental problems related to production activities.
Critically evaluate the economic policy options of the environment.
To establish an economic-environmental assessment.
To knowing the principles of the bioeconomy.
To interact with policy makers, academics and public and private officials involved in the management of natural and environmental resources
Prerequisites
Knowledge of the elements of macroeconomics, microeconomics and economic policy

Type of Assessment
The oral exam includes the verification of students' ability to:
1) Descirbing verbally the main models of environmental economics and the bioeconomy.
2) Identifing the most appropriate estimation method to assess the economic value of environmental services
3) Critically state the advantages and disadvantages of a given economic policy on environmental control.
Active participation during the lecturesù; Punctuality and correctness of homeworks will be evaluated.
