E’ stato coordinatore scientifico del progetto europeo FP7 AQUAFUELS (Algae and Aquatic Biomass for a Sustainable Production of 2nd Generation Biofuels) e del progetto nazionale MAMBO (MicroAlgae, starting Material for BioOil). E’ responsabile di unità operative nei progetti H2020 NOMORFILM (Novel marine biomolecules against biofilm) (2015-2019) e PHOTOFUEL (Biocatalytic solar fuels for sustainable mobility in Europe) (2015-2019).
