Inizio corso Multimodal Discourse Analysis (SCPP)

Quest’anno il corso di Multimodal Discourse Analysis è parte integrante del progetto europeo “ICME-Inclusive and Creative Media Education” (Creative Europe Program 2022). Il corso avrà inizio lunedì 03 aprile per impegni legati al suddetto progetto.

Ilaria Moschini è ricercatrice confermata di Lingua e Traduzione Inglese (SSD L-LIN/12) e insegna discourse analysis da un punto di vista multimodale (Multimodal Discourse Analysis) nel corso di Laurea Magistrale in Strategie della Comunicazione Pubblica e Politica presso la Scuola di Scienze Politiche "Cesare Alfieri" e "Political Discourse Analysis" nel corso di Laurea Triennale in Scienze Politiche. Ha un Dottorato in Linguistica Applicata e Multimodalità presso la UCL, University College London. Al momento è visiting scholar presso il Center of Multimodal Communication della University of Southern Denmark.

I suoi principali interessi di studio sono il discorso digitale, il discorso politico-istituzionale statunitense e il linguaggio dei media, che esamina integrando l'analisi critica del discorso con gli studi multimodali.

Oltre al volume “Il Grande Cerchio”. Un viaggio nell’immaginario americano (Le Lettere 2007) e al volume "The World as a Global Community? A Critical Multimodal Discourse Analysis of Facebook's Institutional Communication and Technical Documentation" (Effigi 2022), ha pubblicato saggi, in riviste italiane e straniere, inerenti a diverse aree discorsive quali la testualità digitale, il linguaggio politico, la Corporate Communication e il linguaggio televisivo e co-curato i volumi Mediation and Multimodal Meaning Making in Digital Environments (Routledge 2022) e Multimodal Literacies Across Digital Learning Contexts (Routledge 2022).

E' membro della Associazione Italiana di Anglistica (AIA), della European Society for the Study of English (ESSE), della Associazione Italiana di Studi Nord-Americani (AISNA), della European Association of American Studies (EAAS) e del gruppo interuniversitario di ricerca CLAVIER (Corpus and Language Variation in English Research). E' anche membro del centro di Studi Americani di Roma.

Dal 2016 al 2019 è stata responsabile dell'unità fiorentina del progetto Erasmus +, azione chiave 2, “EU-MADE4LL - European Multimodal and Digital Education for Language Learning" (http://ec.europa.eu/programmes/erasmus-plus/projects/eplus-project-details-page/?nodeRef=workspace://SpacesStore/2424b99d-9a0a-4c51-a0bc-99c9819f2d0f).

E' membro dell'unità fiorentina del progetto di ricerca sul “Lessico dei beni culturali”.

Aree tematiche per le tesi di laurea.

Analisi multimodale e socio-semiotica dei seguenti linguaggi speciali:

- il linguaggio politico (in particolare quello statunitense);

- il linguaggio dei media digitali;

- il linguaggio pubblicitario;

- le pratiche discorsive delle comunità dei fan.

Ilaria Moschini is tenured Assistant Professor in English Linguistics (SSD L-LIN/12) at the University of Florence, Department of Education, Languages, Intercultures, Literatures and Psychology where she teaches “Political Discourse Analysis” to undergraduate students at the School of Political Science, bachelor degree course in Political Science and “Multimodal Discourse Analysis” to postgraduate students at the School of Political Science, master degree course in Strategic Political and Public Communication. She holds a PhD in Applied Linguistics and Multimodality from UCL (University College London), Department of Culture, Communication and Media. Currently, she is visiting scholar at the Center for Multimodal Communication at the University of Southern Denmark.

Her main research interests are media/new media language and US political and institutional language that she investigates using a critical multimodal discourse analysis approach. Currently, she is studying social media platforms and digital discourse from a socio-semiotic perspective and she has been studying the “webridization” of US institutional and political language with the language of social media since 2007.

She has published numerous essays on the linguistic/semiotic analysis of texts from different discursive areas, a volume on the evolution of the American imaginary and a volume on the critical multimodal analysis of Facebook's institutional communication.

She was the Florence unit leader of an Erasmus Key Action 2 project worth 436.000 Euros for the years 2016-2019. The Project was entitled “EU-MADE4LL - European Multimodal and Digital Education for Language Learning" and involves the University of Messina (as the main applicant) and other 5 EU Universities (Aarhus, Florence, Leeds, Hannover, Tor Vergata) together with a UK-based web creative agency.
