Si laurea in Architettura nel 1992 con lode presso l'Università degli Studi di Napoli "FEDERICO II". Nel 1998 ha conseguito il titolo di Dottore di Ricerca in Tecnologie dell'Architettura discutendo una tesi dal titolo "La problematica energetica negli edifici esistenti. Procedure e strumenti per la gestione sostenibile".
Nell'Aprile del 2004 è risultata vincitrice del concorso ad un posto di Ricercatore Universitario per il settore scientifico-disciplinare ICAR12 presso la Facoltà di Architettura dell'Università degli Studi di Firenze. Dal 1° Gennaio 2005 presta servizio come Ricercatore Universitario in Tecnologie dell’Architettura presso il Dipartimento DIDA della Scuola di Architettura dell'Università degli Studi di Firenze.
Il 5 febbraio 2014 ha conseguito l’abilitazione scientifica nazionale di cui all’art.16 della legge 240/2010 per le funzioni a Professore di seconda fascia (tornata 2012) e dal 1 Novembre 2015 presta servizio come Professore Associato presso il Dipartimento di Architettura DIDA della Scuola di Architettura dell'Università degli Studi di Firenze.
Nel 2018 ha conseguito l’abilitazione scientifica nazionale di cui all’art.16 della legge 240/2010 per le funzioni a Professore di Prima fascia.
Dal 1998 partecipa in qualità di responsabile scientifico costantemente ai progetti di ricerca nazionali ultima delle quali, SELFIE (Sistema di Elementi avanzati multi Layer basato su superFici e materiali Innovativi nanostrutturati per una Edilizia sostenibile ed energeticamente efficiente) Bando Regionale FAR-FAS 2014, e negli anni ha acquisito notevole esperienza in ambito europeo attraverso la partecipazione a numerosi progetti di ricerca finanziati dalla Comunità Europea nelle azioni di Ricerca & Sviluppo, negli specifici Programmi del settore energia e nei Progetti finanziati nei recenti Programma Quadro.
In collegamento a questa attività ha pubblicato diversi saggi in Italia ed all'estero.
Dal 2016 è Responsabile Scientifico del Laboratorio di Tecnologie per l’Abitare Mediterraneo, del Dipartimento di Architettura dell’Università degli Studi di Firenze nato dalla Ricerca "Innovazione Sostenibile dell'Abitare Mediterraneo. Sviluppo di un sistema aperto per l'integrazione dell'innovazione tecnologica e architettonica finalizzata al contenimento dei consumi energetici", finanziata dalla Regione Toscana nell'ambito del Bando Regionale POR FESR 2007-2013
Dal 2018 è direttore del Master di II° Livello in Architettura Bioclimatica e Innovazione Tecnologica per l’Ambiente organizzato per la 16° edizione dal Centro ABITA
Ha iniziato l'attività didattica nel 1998, come docente a contratto incaricata nel corso di Laurea Magistrale in Architettura classe LM-4 c.u. dell'Università degli Studi di Firenze e dal dal 2004 detiene il corso di Laboratorio di Tecnologie dell'Architettura e dal 2015 anche il corso di Laboratorio di Progettazione Ambientale.
Svolge inoltre attività d’insegnamento inerente i temi della Sostenibilità Ambientale, del Risparmio energetico e della Valutazione Energetica degli edifici, anche presso Centri di Ricerca e Istituti di Formazione Accreditati.
Le tematiche di ricerca condotte riguardano il campo della Sostenibilità in Architettura con studi rivolti prevalentemente alle Tecnologie per il risparmio energetico applicate alla nuova edilizia ed a quella esistente, con particolare attenzione al controllo dei parametri ambientali nel progetto.
Tali attività si concentrano in chiara prevalenza sul tema generale del progetto per il benessere ambientale i cui esiti trovano particolare applicazione nel campo dell'architettura bioclimatica, con approfondimenti sugli aspetti della climatizzazione degli edifici, del risparmio energetico e dell'impiego di tecnologie appropriate.
L'ambito tematico privilegiato è quello dell'innovazione tecnica e tecnologica nel progetto di architettura, con particolare attenzione alle implicazioni sulla struttura dell'involucro e ai mutamenti che i nuovi materiali e le nuove tecnologie inducono sul linguaggio dell'architettura:
I contributi scientifici sono prodotti in maniera costante nel tempo, con sviluppo ed approfondimento di tematiche specifiche in relazione all'evoluzione culturale e normativa del settore.

Scientific Profile
The research subject area privileged is technical and technological innovation in architectural design, with particular attention to the implications on the project due to new materials and new technologies that have brought a new language in architecture.
Studies and research are specific in the following fields:
- identification of technologies for the exploitation of energy with low environmental impact, compatible with the built environment;
- analysis and environmental assessment of the relationship building-environment in the redevelopment of the urban environment with particular emphasis on energy conservation, environmental quality and architectural design;
- definition of the energy audit for use of renewable energies in building integrated and interrelated with the environment.
